Smog Check for Ceres Drivers, Straight Up Highway 99
From Ceres, Highway 99 north through Modesto is the direct run; exit toward McHenry Avenue and head north to 4207 McHenry Ave.
Ceres drivers have smog stations on their own side of the Tuolumne River. The reason to come up Highway 99 instead is what happens on a bad day: if the car fails, you want the repair and the retest done by the same people, at the same address.
CAR PRETTY's smog department is a STAR-certified Test & Repair station, and the repair department is on the same lot.
Work trucks and older daily drivers
Plenty of Ceres households keep a vehicle running long past the point most people would trade it in, a work truck or an older family car that still does the job. Older vehicles are more likely to fail on worn components, and a failure is exactly where the difference between a test-only station and a Test & Repair station shows.
At a test-only station the failure report is the end of the visit. Here it is the start of a diagnosis.
Why a retest matters as much as the repair
After an emissions-related repair, the car's onboard computer has to complete its self-checks before a retest is meaningful. Having the shop that did the repair also handle the retest keeps that in one place, instead of you driving back down Highway 99 and then back up again.
If your DMV notice names a specific type of station, the shop is listed as a STAR-certified Test & Repair station.
One trip up the 99
If you are making the drive anyway, the detailing department can handle a wash, an interior shampoo or a full detail during the same visit. Tell us what the car needs when you call (209) 526-8688.
